Description Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease with progressive loss of brain and spinal motoneurons with gradual generalization. Treatment is predominantly symptomatic with significant involvement of palliative medicine. Subjectively bothersome sialorrhoea is caused by a disturbance of the swallowing mechanism. Symptomatic treatment includes therapeutic irradiation of the salivary glands. This paper describes three case reports with the use of radiotherapy in the treatment of hypersalivation. Radiotherapy can contribute to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
