Description Abnormalities of the p53 gene correlate with the worse prognosis of B-CLL. They can be found in about 10-15% of patients, in about 20% of additional cases the regulatory ATM kinase is inactivated. This kinase phosphorylates p53 in cells exposed to genotoxic stress. The aim of this work was to perform detailed analysis of the p53 status and deletions of the ATM locus in B-CLL patients and to follow associations between inactivations of these genes and the mutation status of the IgVH.
