Description Problems of diagnosis and treatment of cancer in adolescents and young adults (AYA adolescents and young adults) is completely specific for several reasons. The spectrum of histological types of tumors is age-specific, it can be schematically divided into three groups - the so called pediatric type tumors (neuroblastoma, Wilm's tumor, medulloblastoma, etc.), tumors occurring in all age groups (sarcomas, leukemias, lymphomas) and tumors typical of adult age (carcinomas). Carcinomas in adolescents make up only around 12% of all malignancies in young adults represent only around 20%. The results of treatment of malignant disease in patients younger than 29 years are significantly worse than in children, and in many cases worse than the older generation. Unsatisfactory results may be due to misunderstanding / ignorance of the age-specific differences in biology tumors. Clinical studies show that tumor biology, the younger generation may be different as compared with other age groups, although by histology is the same type of tumor. Strategy of treatment of malignant tumors in adolescents often differ significantly according to the type of work - adult vs. pediatric strategy treatment is often fundamentally different both parties choosing medical procedures and protocols, but also the intensity doses of chemotherapy. Modern cancer care is multidisciplinary issues. Adequate diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients is always a multidisciplinary. It relies on a coordinated interplay oncology oriented and knowledgeable specialists, coordinating with irreplaceable roles of clinical oncologist (a children's oncologist and oncologist in adults). The aim of interactive meetings of experts of different profession is to find consensus on effective action LPP that will best reflect individual needs and tumor biology of patients treated according to modern diagnostic and treatment protocols.
