Description The case study describes a young man diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction in history without major cardiovascular risk than smoking. According to the changes in the blood, the cause of myocardial infarction intended thrombocytosis, which was subsequently diagnosed with essential thrombocythemia. Essential thrombocythemia is a rare disease occurring rather frequently in the elderly population, the incidence in younger age is rare, but it is important to think about this diagnosis. This case study aims to draw attention to the risk of thrombotic complications in essential thrombocythemia. In order to prevent these often fatal complications, early diagnosis is important, determining the risk of complications and follow-up treatment or monitoring the development of this disease. Generally, the main cause of myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, but in younger patients it is necessary to think about the less common risk factors such as e.g. being essential thrombocythemia.
