Description The device is indicated in chindren with malignant tumor in the region of the knee joint. It enables limb saving surgery after resection of distal part of the femur or proximal part of the tibia with maintaining the leg length equality in skeletally immature patients during their growth. The endoprosthesis consists of a femoral and a tibial component connected with a hinge joint. The femoral component consists of a hollow shaft with an intramedullary screw stem provided with a distraction device. The hollow shaft is firmly connected with the femur. The lenghtening is achieved using a worm drive mechanism with a hexagonal slot for a screwdriver. The lenghtening is done exactly through miniinvasive approach according to the growth of the child. The maximum lenghtening is 180 mm. The expandable endoprothesis avoids to use alternative methods like amputation, rotational plasty of a graft technique. It also avoids several revisions of coventional endoprosthes during child growth.
