Description In treatment of non-small cell lung carcinoma palliative radiotherapy is applied when inoperable or metastatic disease is treated. The basic method is external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy and stereotactic radiotherapy (radiosurgery) are less used. These methods can be used to influence the symptoms arising from localized lung disease or can relieve the symptoms of disseminated disease, mainly bone or brain metastases. Radiotherapy has its place also in treatment of acute conditions – superior vena cava syndrom, malignant splinal cord compression. Radiotherapy is one of the important therapeutic method of the comprehensive cancer care.
