Description We analyzed the adaptation of the auditory stimuli processing in the anterior and posterior insula. Insula is a generator of mismatch negativity potential - automatic detection of sensory information processing. The potential was found in 15 of 17 subjects in anterior insula and 10 of 13 subjects in posterior insula. Adaptations of mismatch negativity show a significant gradual decrease of the potential amplitude over time at unchanged latencies in the regions of the insula. Stronger adaptation was found after the first 5 minutes of recording. The differences of adaptation are between anterior and posterior insula. The results are for deviant auditory tones using roving paradigm. Insula posterior shows higher amplitude and shorter latency mismatch negativity potential – higher activation in automatic sensory detection.
