| Description | The aim of the prospective study was to define significant factors influencing malnutrition in 80 seniors in a residential social services facility over the course of one year. It has been confirmed that the incidence and risk of malnutrition is multifactorial. The patient's self-sufficiency, changes in cognitive functions due to developing dementia and comorbidity of chronic diseases, including hospitalization, are the most involved. Based on the identified factors, it is necessary to compile nutritional screening for early assessment of the risk of malnutrition and at the same time the education of nursing staff providing social care in nursing homes. |
