| Description | The head of the fetus is placed on one shovel of the hip bone and the end of the pelvis points towards the other shovel of the hip bone. The axis of the fetus is arcuate across the perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the uterus. Transverse position occurs in approximately 0.5% of cases at the end of pregnancy. |
