Description After more than twenty years, a new monograph on clozapine is published in which the authors present the latest findings on this exceptional antipsychotic for patients with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. Clozapine therapy entails a number of specifics - indications for drug-resistant patients, titration, the influence of many factors on its biotransformation, the need to monitor adverse effects, etc. Perhaps for these reasons, clozapine is in practice prescribed to fewer patients than meet the criteria for pharmacoresistance. However, clozapine prescribing has been increasing in recent years. The current literature on clozapine is rich, new meta-analyses on the efficacy and tolerability of antipsychotics are available, additional findings on monitoring plasma concentrations have been added, and the topic of adverse effects of clozapine has also provided new information. For these reasons, there was a need for a well-organized monograph in the Czech language, summarizing recent information in one place, which the authors supplemented with their own clinical experience, resulting in a text that is clear and, above all, useful for practice.
