| Description | The main symptoms of Covid-19 include fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, hypogeusia and hyposmia. Extrapulmonary symptoms also include numerous dermatological manifestations. Pathogenic mechanisms are not completely known, the role of hyperactive immune response, complement activation and microvascular damage is assumed. There is no uniform division, but many authors categorize skin lesions caused by covid into 6 main groups: urticarial exanthema, confluent erythematous - maculopapular - morbilliform exanthema, vesicular exanthema, pseudo-frostbite (so-called covid fingers - erythema and edema in acral parts of the body), livedo reticularis/racemosa and vasculitic manifestations. Worsening of existing skin diagnoses (atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, etc.), hair loss and changes in the nails are often described as well. Department 25 of I.DVK operated from 10/2020-5/2021 (8 months) as a standard covid inpatient ward for FNUSA and all skin manifestations possibly related to Covid-19 were recorded. A total of 300 patients were examined, while skin manifestations of Covid-19 were observed in 18 of them (6%). The most common skin manifestation was a maculopapular exanthema on the trunk (44%). In the period 2020-2022, skin manifestations were also intensively monitored in the ambulatory sector of the clinic. |
