Description We analyze the cause and clinical systemic and ocular manifestations of the individual stages of Lyme disease and the possibilities of its diagnosis. There is still an unclear discussion about the causes of post-burn syndrome. Persistent Borrelia infection resistant to antibiotic treatment (cystic forms, clusters of bacteria), autoimmune reaction triggered by residual antigens of bacteria and similar antigens of human proteins, persistent pro-inflammatory activity of the immune system and tissue damage by infection or subsequent autoimmune reaction are considered. Possible co-infections are also being considered.
