Description Secondary glaucoma occurs in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) not only as a complication of chronic intraocular inflammation, but is also associated with the necessary long-term corticoid therapy despite the current possibilities of corticoid-sparing therapies (immunosuppressants, biological treatment). Patients should be approached individually and surgical interventions should always be considered and timed with regard to the activity of intraocular inflammation in case of insufficient intraocular pressure compensation.
