| Description | Atypical antipsychotics represent the main pharmacotherapeutic approach in the treatment of schizophrenia and other nosological entities. The safety profiles of these drugs are generally more favorable compared to older generation drugs. However, their use is associated with frequent adverse metabolic effects and the development of components of the metabolic syndrome (MS). |
