Description The authors describe a case of carbon monoxide poisoning. It was an occupational intoxication in a patient who worked as operational locksmith in a foundry. The usual content of his work cranes were repaired. During his work, he was exposed to foundry dust, which contains both non-flammable elements, but and organic flammable additives such as binders. As part of the solution to the unwanted event, he was clearing away the red-hot dust and in doing so he was exposed to carbon monoxide, which is one of the products of incomplete combustion of the given organic components of foundry dust. With regard to it regarding to it, that in the beginning it was only a slight puffing of dust, the worker was not equipped with any protective respiratory equipment, nor was the fire brigade called choir. The smoke exposure lasted approximately thirty minutes. Space was fairly well ventilated, therefore the others involved who they did not directly clear the smoldering dust, signs of intoxication they did not suffer. The assessee developed respiratory problems after the termination of the activity and had to be hospitalized for several days hospitalized. The treatment took place in a standard department, it was a symptomatic treatment, of which it was a part and oxygen therapy. The patient was discharged home in good clinical condition, the diagnosis was established as poisoning carbon monoxide according to the Ostrava classification I. degree. He was subsequently referred to our clinic for a professional assessment and was diagnosed with an occupational disease.
