Keywords Chlamydia pneumoniae - serological tests - myocardial infarction - angina pectoris
Description Acute myocardial infarction patients showed significantly higher prevalence of anti-chlamydial antibodies demonstrated by complement fixation test as well as anti-lipopolysaccharide IgA antibodies than the control subjects. Patients with the unstable angina pectoris showed higher levels of both IgA and IgG anti-LPS and IgA anti-MOMPs antibodies than control subjects. The results corroborate the hypothesis of the participation of C. pneumoniae in the pathogenesis of coronary arteriosclerosis.
