Description The catalase activity of peroxisomes was studied by means of cytochemical method in freshly ovulated mouse cumulus-oocyte complexes, isolated human cumulus oophorus cells and resting, unfertilised human oocytes. Strongly stained population of microperoxisomes was reavealed in both mouse and human cumulus cells. Peroxisomes were abundant and catalase positive in mouse oocytes, whereas those in human oocytes were catalase negative.
