Description Ionic currents responsible for rate-dependent changes of action potetial (AP) waveform were analyzed using AP voltage clamp method in isolated rat ventricular myocytes. The L-type calcium current ICa-L and the transient outward current Ito were found to underlie rate-dependent variability of AP duration. In addition, the fast sodium current INa played a significant role under the effect of the class I antiarrhythmic drug ajmaline, very likely as a consequence of its use-dependent block.
