Description Aim: Diabetic foot syndrome associated with atherosclerotic disease of the crural arteries often results in chronic critical leg ischemia, with gangrene at the terminal stage. Pedal bypass surgery is often the only method of limb salvage. Methods: In 2001 to 2003, we carried out pedal bypass in 30 patients. Results: At 36 months of folow-up, the cumulative primary and secondary graft patency were 87 % and 90 % respectively; the cumulative limb salvage rate was 93 % (Kaplan Meier analysis).
