Description The purpose of the study was to evaluate eating habits of 9 -10-year-old children, quantitatively and qualitatively, in relation to general nutritional recommandation. Data were obtained from 374 children in 4 Czech regions. The nutritional analysis showed that the most discussed nutritional problems still persist : excess fat, saturated fatty acids and simple carbohydrates on one side and low intake of dietary fibre, vitamin C and calcium. As the main causes were identified abubdabce of meat products, sweetened beverages and white bread and inadequate consumption of vegetable, fruit and wholemeal cereals.
