Description Maternal Influences on Child s Health Promoting Behavior Each stage of life has its specifics, the individual periods of our lives may be more or less exposed to various risks. The most sensitive stages of human life, are prenatal period, early childhood and adolescence. Alexander (1992) suggested that „many health problems have their origins and potential solutions in behaviors developer in early childhood, in the context of families.“ Parents are responsible for promoting their children s health and prevention their illness. Parents with their patterns, health attitudes and the overall assessment of health as a high priority in their lives, have influences on develop patterns of their children s health behavior. „Knowledge, skills and attitudes in the context of family, shaping the opinions, motives and value orientation of the child and form the basis of health promoting behavior of the child.“ (Brukkerova, 2009). Stable and functioning family is therefore important element for healthy development each human. „Women are the principal brokers or arrangers of health services for their children. The assignment of family health responsibilities to the female in her role as … mother … is deeply rooted in cultural norms. These activities are seen as an integral part of the maternal and nurturant role women are expected to assume within the family structure.“ (Carpenter, 1990, pp. 1214).
