Description Microstructure, mechanical and physical properties were studied in alloys composed of titanium, aluminium and iron (TiAlFe). Different casting technologies of TiAlFe alloys were tested, and changes occuring during their formation, annealing and hardening were studied. It was found out, that mechanical properties of FiAlFe alloys can be changed during processes such as cold deformation, hardening or combination of these two technigues. TiAlFe alloys were subjected to a series of biological tests in order to evaluate their biocompatibility and genotoxicity. Results of these bio.tests, the tests of cell adherence in particular, showed that TiAlFe alloys had a very low biocompatibility. Therefore, TiAlFe alloys were determined as unsuitable for application in dental implants and surgical tool production.
