Description To evaluate the safety of STAAR Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) to correct moderate and high myopia and hyperopia. Eighty-three phakic eyes (48 myopic and 35 hyperopic eyes) of 45 pacients underwent ICL implantation were included in this study. The mean age was 29,2 years SD 7,9. The most frequent early postoperative complications included pigment dispersion in the 45 % eyes. In 14,5 %eye (5 %) we intended subsequent anterior subcapsular opacity, in the one eye occured papilits and cystoid macular oedema. The safety and the level of satisfaction after ICL implantation was in the myopic and hyperopic group was very good.
