Description Invasive fungal infections are a serious complication accompanying the treatment of hematooncological patients. Empirical use of systemic antifungal therapy is standard medical practice in granulocytopenic patients with a hematologic malignancy with fever unresponsive to broad-spectrum antibiotics. Recommendations presented below are based on the views of the European Conference on Infection in Leukemia (ECIL). They represent a consensus of experts for the selection of antifungal agents for empirical treatment of febrile neutropenia in this patient group.
