Description Two non-invasive techniques of sampling the specimen from a wound for microbiological culture: a standard swab, defined as the golden standard, and the imprint of wound on a 5 x 5 cm piece of filtration paper. Both techniques yielded 22 microbial species; mostly Proteus mirabilis (in 17 cases), there were 25 negative results. Statistically, information got from the imprint technique was more precise and the hypothesis of the swab as the golden standard was refuted.
