Description In this chapter we introduce the basic theoretical concepts which this book builds on. From the choice of the concepts it is clear that we follow the concept of teacher as a reflective practitioner. In the first part of this chapter we talk about the nature of teaching as a type of teacher action. We go on to analyze the relationship between teacher action and teacher thinking whilst clarifying the importance of intuition. In the next part we explain the concept of reflection and present the basis of reflective practice.
