Description Treatment of patients with chronic lower extremity wounds after vascular reconstruction is a serious medical and social problem. The care of the patients discharged from the 2nd Department of Surgery of Medical faculty, Masaryk University and St. Anne's University Hospital Brno is provided by and centralized to the outpatient centre for moist wound healing. Case report: We present a case of a patient who was discharged from hospital with chronic lower extremity ulcer after vascular reconstructive procedure and was treated in our outpatient centre for moist wound healing. Using the comprehensive wound treatment management the ulcer was completely healed. Discussion and conclusions: The vascular reconstructive procedure providing an adequate revascularization in patients with chronic ulcers of lower extremities does not guarantee a successful healing of the chronic wound. The comprehensive wound treatment management provided by specialists after the procedure is of no less importance and contributes significantly to the treatment success.
