Description Head and neck tumours are agressively growing and the oncological treatment often results in patient's mutilation. Thus recently the non-surgical treatment (radiotherapy) is prefered. The effectivity of the first choice therapy is crucial for the treatment results. However, more than 50% of the tumours are not radio-sensitive enought. Unfortunately, still any sensitivizy marker for useful pre treatment radiosensitivity assesment is missing. Aim of the study is to evaluate the effect of irradiation in vitro on cell lines (cultivated from tissue samples taken from patients prior to treatment). After an experimental irradiation , damage of the DNA is estimated (number of the DNA double strand breaks) and the repair dynamic and capacity. The results will be correlated to the tumour treatment response.
