Description Currently, 2-10% of all children are born thanks to assisted reproduction methods. This number is expected to increase further in the future. Infertility treatment methods are legally treated differently in individual states, and there is also a wide spectrum of currents of opinion on this issue across countries. For this reason, there was already an effort in the past to create an overview that would clearly describe the similarities and differences in procedures and attitudes towards infertility treatment. A three-year follow-up project on practices in assisted reproduction was initiated by H. Jones, Jr and J. Cohen in 1998. It continues to be developed under the auspices of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) entitled Global Trends in Reproductive Policy and Practice. In this way, the scope and focus of the project is more accurately reflected and made available online. IFFS is a WHO partner with the Surveillance publication mandate. This project was followed by 7 more questionnaire surveys, in which the Czech Republic and our workplace participated. In 2019, the IFFS published its latest overview, Surveillance 2019, which depicts current policy and practice in assisted reproductive therapy. This review was based on an online survey completed by 191 respondents representing 97 of the 132 countries believed to offer AR services. Our message is structured according to the topics covered by Surveillance 2019. Although 97 countries participated in the questionnaire, not all countries responded to all questions. This fact may distort the conclusions drawn from the survey.
