Description Much focus is paid on a role of oxidative stress in cancerogenesis. The aim of aour study was to evaluate parameters of oxidative stress in a group of patients with HNSCC and compare these results with a control group of healthy patients Our study revealed higher amount of TNF, MDA in oncological patients. Consistently, superoxid dismutase activity in red blood cells was decreased in patients with malignancies of head and neck. In conclusion, increased levels of MDA and TNF without compensatory elevation of amount or activity of antioxidative enzymes in patients with HNSCC entitles us to presume that oxidative stress plays an important role in cancerogenesis of HNSCC. Subapriya came to similiar results. The project is supported by grant 10/IINR/7996-3 from IGA of The Czech Ministry of Health.
