What did last year bring, and what is in the pipeline for HR Award activities in 2024? The HR Award Action Plan implementation phase is in progress; together, we have already implemented many important tasks, and more are expected this year. Here is a summary of what has been achieved and what we will continue to focus on at the Faculty.
The Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University has received the HR Excellence in Research Award from the European Commission for its commitment to providing a professional, open and ethical working environment for its employees. This certificate is awarded to institutions implementing the HRS4R (The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers) and guaranteeing a high-quality and evolving employee care and working environment. FM MU regularly submits self-assessment reports evaluating the progress of processes and activities in accordance with the Action Plan. This practice allows the faculty to identify achievements and focus on future priorities.
Last year, the faculty defended the award without any comments, which confirms the thorough and systematic implementation of the Action Plan, in which the faculty has identified twenty comprehensive areas containing 111 measures as early as 2021. As part of its revision, three additional areas were identified, bringing the number of actions to 123, which are:
Out of a total of 123 measures, 55 have already been completed, which means that their subsequent implementation and further continuous development are underway. Other internal processes are also being set up, and work on the other 44 measures is underway.

The paper by an international team of authors was published in the prestigious scientific journal Nature Communications in March 2025.
