Description Pancreas, 15-20 cm long and weighing 75-100 g body has a major role in the process of digestion and glucose homeostasis. 85 % of pancreatic tissue is formed structures providing exocrine glands, and only 2% are endocrine tissue. Daily pancreas produces 1 000 to 1 500 ml of a clear secretions containing alkali bicarbonate, minerals and especially digestive enzymes - amylase, lipase and peptidases. While peptidases are excluded into the duodenum in an inactive form and only in the duodenum are activated lipase; duodenum already excluded as active. Complex mechanisms of pancreatic secretion is controlled by neural and hormonal mechanisms besides affecting secretion and cell integrity. Chronic pancreatitis is defined as a chronic, progressive disease, which is a functional parenchyma is replaced with connective tissue to form the exocrine and endocrine pancreatic insufficiency terminally. In Central Europe, the incidence of diseases is usually in the range of 7.0 to 10.0, the highest number of newly diagnosed cases per 100 000 population per year (23.0) recorded paradoxically, in a country with Prohibition, in Finland, which is explained by a large intake home prepared low-quality alcohol, dietary habits and discussed the influence of genetic factors [1-3].
